Tips that will Help you to Future-Proof Your Kid’s Room

If you feel as though you need to future-proof your child’s bedroom, then there are a few things you can do to try and do that. If you want some help, or if you aren’t sure if there are any steps that you can take to make your life easier, then take a look below.

Build in the Bed

The first thing you need to do is try and build in the bed. A built-in bed with curtains on either side will grow with your child, and it also allows you to make the most out of your storage. Everything from toys to clothes and even toys can be stored, and it also means you don’t have to try and fit in a wardrobe either. You can use some ply doors and then use some drawers to try and create the foundation. If you have younger kids, then having some hanging curtains will help you to turn the space into a cosy den. On top of this, it also allows you to maximise the space if you have a smaller room. If you want to help yourself here, then one of the best things you can do is avoid trying to add some character bedding and wallpaper. If you do, then you will have to redo it all later, and this is the last thing you need. If you have a younger baby, learning how to convert a crib into a bed can be a very good way for you to extend the life of your investment.Add a Study Station

Another thing you can do is try and add a study station for your child. Having a desk as well as a chair will help your child to get their homework done, and this is great to say the least. If you can try and confine the chaos to one place, or if you can try and free up your home, then this will benefit you quite a lot as well. If you want to help yourself, then try and choose a plain desk as this will grow with them. You can also find one that contains storage, as this means you can store books and even stationery as your child grows. While your child is small, you may want to try and opt for a more supportive desk or even a gaming chair. Themed jungle prints on the wall will help too.

Stylish Wall Art

Bring some personality into the room by having a range of cheerful animals as well as matching prints and frames. You can also opt for simple motifs if you want, as these can be hung in sets of three if you want a pleasing arrangement. Things like this can make a big difference, and they can also help you to get the overall result you need. Alternatively, opting for a picture ledge or even a gallery wall can help you to make your home look great. If your windows allow it, you can even opt for a patterned roller blind. You can fit this into the recess, and this is a great option if you want to keep the direct sun glare off the screen when your child is gaming or even when they are sitting back and watching a movie with friends. Even though roller blinds are very easy to operate, as older kids can adjust them themselves, you do need to be mindful of your smaller children. You need to make sure that they meet the child safety standards, and you also need to make sure that they are safe.

Secret Reading Nooks

Another thing you can try and do is create a reading nook for your child. Bookcases that face each other can help you to create a solid reading environment for your child. Sometimes it doesn’t matter how energetic your kids are, because providing them with a calming space to read and listen to music is always a nice thing to do. It also helps you to encourage them to have a bit of downtime at the end of the day. If the space is tight, then you can swap one unit for the back of a bed head. If you have kids who are sharing, then you can easily assign them a shelf each, so they can have books on each end, and hooks for each of their cherished belongings.

Accessible Storage

Another thing you can do is try and opt for accessible storage. Encourage your children to help with tidying things away, including books, at the end of a session. If you can encourage your children to help with tidying away their toys and books, then this will help. Don’t make the shelving too high for them, as you may find that your kids end up trying to climb to something they want, and this is not what you need. You also need to try and make sure that your children aren’t constantly dealing with shelves that are trying to topple over as well. As their interests change, you can also swap out toys for different things, which will help a lot.

Simple Wall Murals

Simple murals are also a very good way for you to try and bring some colour and personality into a room. This is very easy to do, and you may even find that it is very cost-effective too. If your kids decide that they don’t like it as much as they thought they would, then you can easily paint over it, or even have them do it themselves. This is a great way for you to teach them some additional responsibility, and it also allows you to give them the help they need to have a bit more control in their lives. If you want to achieve your own look or if you like the idea of going for a more geometric look, then you can use tape, or you can even use different stencils to try and make your room look great. Getting your kids involved is one of the best things you can do as well, so be sure to keep that in mind, as it will make a big difference.
